Harnett County Schools began working with National Training Network to implement the Algebraic Thinking in the summer of 2005.  Each year beginning in 2005- 2006 all teachers implemented Algebraic Thinking with all of their 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Dunn Middle School in both regular and special education classrooms.   

The following graphs represent; the Algebraic Thinking growth over 3 years and the change in scores per grade level of students meeting or exceeding Level III for the duration of Algebraic Thinking.

Graph 1 follows the sixth grade AT students across three years. The percentage of students that met or exceeded Level III in 6th grade was 36.5%, in their 7th grade 52.5% of these students met or exceeded Level III, and during their 8th grade year 67.4% of students scored on or above grade level.
