Clark County Public Schools began working with National Training Network to implement Algebraic Thinking beginning with teachers from two Title I schools receiving training in the summer of 2006. National Training Network provided on site coaching visits two days each month throughout the school year. Since initial implementation began, Algebraic Thinking has continued to expand each year to include additional schools as follows:
2006-2007 2 middle schools (both Title I schools)
2007-2008 3 middle schools (includes 2 Title I schools)
2008-2009 9 middle schools (includes 7 Title I schools)
The data following this page represents AYP results for the last three years, during implementation of Algebraic Thinking. This data includes; a comparison of AYP results in 2005-2006 before implementing Algebraic Thinking and AYP results in 2006-2007 after implementing Algebraic Thinking at Woodbury Middle, the percent of growth at each grade level at Woodbury Middle, the growth over three years at Bridger Middle while using Algebraic Thinking, and the growth among the Title I middle schools in Clark County during the 07-08 school year.
Charts1-4: Represents Woodbury Middle School The first chart shows Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standing for the 05-06 school year prior to use of Algebraic Thinking and the AYP results for the 06-07 school year with implementation of Algebraic Thinking in 6th and 7th grade mathematics classes. The charts following show the percent of increase for each grade level, 6th , 7th, and 8th.
